Assisted Living Regulations To Be Amended: Caregiver Training

A Dear Assisted Living Provider letter was just released outlining plans to 
add and amend sections to Chapter 388-78A WAC to comply and be consistent with new laws passed by the 2013 Legislature:

• Substitute Senate Bill 5077--Gender-Neutral Terms - which changes gender-specific terms to gender-neutral terms, and makes a variety of other technical corrections;
• Substitute House Bill 1629 Home Care Aides--Credentialing and Continuing Education – which extends the timeframes and establishes a provisional certification for long-term care workers home care aide certification, and exempts registered nurses and licensed practical nurses from continuing education requirements applicable to long-term care workers;
• Senate Bill 5510 Vulnerable Adults--Abuse – which modifies the definition of "neglect".
