Applicability
of Orientation and Safety Training to NACs: (**Short version: NACs
IN ASSISTED LIVING/NON-MEDICARE CERTIFIED HOME CARE/HEALTH DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE 5 HOURS OF
ORIENTATION/SAFETY TRAINING THAT ARE REQUIRED OF HOME CARE AIDES**)
Per the Department of Health, with
DSHS/ADSA carbon copied, in an email to Aging Services of Washington and dated
January 12, 2012 “Initiative 1163, Section 105
states that “the following long-term care workers are not required to become a
certified home care aide pursuant to this chapter.”
"Under subsection (1),
it lists registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing
assistants or persons who are in an approved training program for certified
nursing assistants, along with other exemptions; RCW 74.39A.073
describes all 75 hours of training.Therefore, this section exempts these
exempt long-term care workers from all training as well as the certification."
