LGBT Ethnic Elders See More Poverty, Isolation, Bias

A recent national study done at the University of Washington School of Social Work in Seattle determined that ethnic elder members of the LGBT community face greater disability, physical and mental troubles and lack of services compared to the remaining population.

By 2030, there will be more than 4 million LGBT older adults. In fact, such stigmatization and victimization of ethnic elder LGBT persons is linked to thoughts of suicide, deteriorating health and premature death.
