CMS Training on RACs

The Visiting Nurse Association of America was kind enough to open a scheduled CMS Training on RACs for LeadingAge members. They will be hosting two experts from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for an educational program on Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs). This complimentary conference call will take place on April 3, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST (11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PST).


Captain Marie Casey, Deputy Director, CMS Division of Recovery Audit Operations and Amy Cinquegrani, Region C Project Officer, CMS Division of Recovery Audit Operations will be discussing the recent cases of RAC audits on home health agencies and what providers need to know about RAC audits. The CMS Recovery Audit Contractors are responsible for identifying Medicare overpayments and underpayments. While RACs have focused predominately on hospitals, two RACs have begun to review home health claims. Both Connolly, which covers Region C, and Diversified Collection Services (DCS), which covers Region A, have initiated efforts.
