PAs to Perform SNF Level of Care Certs and Recerts

CMS has recently released an article allowing Physician Assistants to Perform Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Level of Care Certifications and Recertifications, with an implementation date of Feb. 13, 2012.

This article is based on Section 3108 of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, which adds physician assistants to the list of practitioners who can perform SNF level of care certification and recertifications.

The CR7701 directs Medicare contractors to recognize physician assistants to perform the required initial certification and recertifications for Medicare coverage of SNF services under Part A.
