The U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging held a hearing about ensuring quality and oversight in assisted living communities. The hearing focused on issues raised by press coverage of problematic care in some Florida assisted living facilities.
LeadingAge's Steve Maag testified, "While I recognize this committee and other elected officials may look to more regulation to address the bad acts of the providers exposed by the Miami Herald," Maag said, "I urge the committee and others not to look to more regulation, but rather to continue to promote...resources to providers."
