The Benjamin Rosenthal Senior Center in Flushing, New York, has created the nation's first "virtual senior center." This program is a part of a Virtual Senior Center pilot program sponsored by Microsoft and the city's Department for the Aging and Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DOITT). An older adult's home is equipped with touch-screen computers running Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, along with digital video cameras and Internet access so the person can take advantage of senior center programs remotely.
