Did you lock the door before leaving the house? Turn off the oven? A new computer-based memory aid developed by Swedish researchers could help people with dementia answer these questions. Sensors placed throughout the person’s home send alerts about unlocked doors, unattended ovens and other safety issues to a home-based touch-screen computer and a mobile PDA (personal digital assistant) that the person carries. The system can also remind users to perform daily tasks.
