The Ombudsman's office has alerted us that they are receiving many hotline calls (across all licensed settings) from residents and families about problems related to the extreme heat we are experiencing.

Urgent for nursing homes

An email was sent to all Washington State Medicaid Nursing Facilities on Friday, July 17, 2009 regarding ProviderOne, the new Medicaid payment system for Washington.
Please review the email and confirm your progress registering for the new payment system. Complete instructions are linked above in the title of this posting.
It is imperative that nursing facilities complete the registration as soon as possible in order to ensure that they continue to receive Medicaid payments from the State.

Survey Trends - your survey reports needed!

Aging Services of Washington, at the request of many of its members, will now be analyzing assisted living inspection reports AND nursing home survey reports for the purposes of sharing finding/citation trends, assisting with Plans of Correction and identifying opportunities for continued staff training.
For those members who wish to participate, all identifying data will be kept confidential. Sharing of inspection or survey reports with Aging Services is voluntary, but we encourage you to consider joining our efforts so that we can all learn together.
Please SCAN your reports, making a .pdf document, then email the .pdf file to jpeterson@agingwa.org. Bonnie Blachly and I will be working together on the ongoing analysis.We will post trends and other shared information on our blog as often as we have updates, so check back often.

Legacy House honored...

The Seattle AIA Design for Aging Committee is doing a series of post-occupancy evaluations or studies of Seattle Senior Housing Facilities. Interested in learning about and promoting the quality of design for aging populations, the committee has selected Legacy House as one of the communities they plan to visit in late July. The Design for Aging Committee will then prepare a document of greater Seattle area senior living communities to highlight Best Practices in senior housing and lessons learned. Congratulations to Legacy House, a retirement housing and assisted living residence in Seattle's International District.
Former WAHSA member Clare Bowman passes away

All licensed boarding homes are required to be in compliance with a new state law by July 26, 2009.
