Did you know that Washington is one of the few states in the nation to offer an online registry for living wills and advance directives? Registering these documents online will allow health care providers quick and easy access to end of life wishes. The security of the electronic data has been an important piece of the work done by the Department of Health in implementing enabling legislation from the 2008 session.
The registry is subject to state budget cuts in the 2010 legislative session; the Washington State Medical Association is encouraging residents to register their documents by January 2010 to show support for the program. Please go to http://www.doh.wa.gov/livingwill/ for more information and instructions on how to register.
